On January 12 we were so pleased to interview eminent journalist and writer Hella Pick for the archive. An interview summary and photos will soon be available on the site. The full video interview will be available via our repository institutes in due course.
Hella was born in Vienna, Austria. After Germany's annexation of Austria in 1938 and a visit from the Gestapo, Pick's mother decided to leave Austria. Pick was put on a Kindertransport and arrived in Britain in March 1939. Her mother obtained a visa and joined her three months later.
Hella worked as UN correspondent for The Guardian for many years and is a well-known media figure in the UK and Germany.
