Alisa's father, Dr Ignatz Maybaum, was rabbi of the Berlin ‘Liberale’ synagogues, Oranienburgerstrasse & Pestalozzistrasse & was imprisoned by the Nazis in 1935. We also studied the very vivid testimony of Steven Mendelsson, who came over to Britain with his younger brother Wally on a Kindertransport in April 1939:
And we were very moved by the testimony of Gerti Baruch and the message written by her teacher when Gerti left primary school in Vienna:
